Celebrate Recovery

AWANA @ Aldersgate   "Because Kids Matter to God"

AWANA will resume in September.

Aldersgate United Methodist Church is pleased to offer an AWANA Clubs program.  We appreciate the opportunity to share God's word with the children of our community. You and your family are invited to join us.

The goal of AWANA is to reach children with the gospel of Jesus Christ and to train them to serve Him.  Additionally, our goal at Aldersgate is to provide a structured, safe environment where your child can learn about Jesus, memorize God's word, meet new friends, play games, learn responsibility, and have fun.

AWANA is an acronym from the first letters of the phrase, "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed," which is taken from the Bible verse 2 Timothy 2:15:  "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth."

Alpha



The Alpha course is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life. We explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions, with a day or weekend away.  Each session includes a weekly dinner together, a short time of singing, a teaching video and discussion groups.
 
It is low-key, friendly and fun! This year's Alpha runs from January 24 to April 11. Contact Vikki (893-8640).

Children's Ministries

Sunday School Classes for children grades 1-6 are offered at 9:00 and 11:00 A.M. each Sunday. Vacation Bible School is offered each summer, as well as Shasta Children's Camp for grades 4-7 at Shasta Methodist Camp in Mt. Shasta. The AWANA program is offered September through March. Youth Ministries

Youth Group, for Jr. and Sr. high school students, meets Wednesday evenings at 5:30 P.M. for dinner and fun. Contact Casey Moreno.


Feather Youth Camp is held annually at Camp Tehama (near Lassen Volcanic National Park) for grades 7-12.

Women's Ministries

Activities for women include an annual retreat, monthly group meetings led by Karie Hamilton (UMW leadership), Prayer Teams, and the Widow's Group Luncheon. Also, the Breakfast Gang, led by Fran Neuenburg, meets weekly (except during the summer) at 6:30 and 8:00 A.M. at Higher Ground coffee shop. Contact Vikki (893-8640).

Men's Ministries

Activities for men include an annual retreat (check out the video from the 2007 retreat) and a monthly prayer breakfast. Also, a weekly Bible study is led by Pastor Neal and meets at 6:30 A.M. at Cozy Diner restaurant. Contact Vikki (893-8640).

Adult Bible Studies

Arlene McLane (895-3644) leads a Thursday morning group at 10:00 A.M. in Room 3 at the church.

Betty Gibb (892-2402) leads a group each Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. in her home.

Worship and Arts Ministries

Comprised of dedicated volunteers, the music program at Aldersgate exists to bless God and His people through inspired musical performance, whether classical or contemporary. Check out the media page for recordings of our choir, worship team, staff and musicians.


 

Praise Team
The Praise Team is made up of the Praise Band and Worship Team, which provide contemporary worship music for the weekly 9:00 A.M. service. Here's an audio recording of the team. Singers and band members are always welcome! Contact Clark Minor.

           

    

           

   
 


Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir provides music for the weekly 11:00 A.M. traditional service. Adult singers of all levels are invited to participate. Here's an audio recording of the choir. Contact Clark Minor.



Drama Team 
Aldersgate Christian Thespians is a company of residential actors performing in a variety of productions. Anyone is welcome to join our group - the only requirements are a dedication to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and a desire to minister through performance art. We are willing to share our talented actors with any organization in the church community and the community at large. Contact Rod Kenyon.  

Tech Team
Volunteers are welcome to assist in sound set-up and operating, as well as running PowerPoint during services. Contact Vikki (893-8640).

Prayer Group

This intercessory team meets in the church office Thursday mornings at 7:00 A.M. An email prayer chain is also available. Contact Vikki (893-8640).

Salvation Army Outreach

A ministry team helps out at the Salvation Army each month serving a meal to the homeless of our city. Extra hands are welcome. Join us at 4:00 P.M. each second Sunday of the month. Contact Vikki (893-8640).
